Rules for HF Holidays Photo Competition 2025 & Submission Form

• The competition is open to all HF Member amateur photographers of all skill levels
• Entries must be submitted by the original creator of the photograph
• Participants may submit a maximum of three entries, each of one shot. Each entry must be unique
• Entries must have been taken whilst on any HF holiday

• Landscape: Capturing the beauty of natural scenery.
• Wildlife: Highlighting the natural world.
• Macro: Close-up photography showing intricate details.
• Urban: Depicting city life and architecture.
• Activity: Featuring a Special Interest or aspect of any HF Holiday.
• Other

For privacy and intellectual property reasons, we cannot accept entries featuring identifiable faces unless written permission for usage rights is provided directly to magazine@hfholidays.co.uk by each individual featured in the photo.

• All entries must be submitted electronically via the submission form at www.hfholidays.co.uk/photo-competition-2025
• Photographs should be in JPEG format with a minimum resolution of 6000px wide/high (longest side, depending on whether landscape or portrait)
• Please do not compress the images. Always try and upload the original photo direct from your device
• Each entry to include title, HF holiday name, location, date taken, entry category and a brief description (up to 150 words) explaining the context and inspiration behind the photograph. HF guest name (the photographer) and email address will also be required.
• Watermarks or any identifying marks should not be present on the photographs.
• Submit your entries by the specified deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted.

• Creativity: Originality and uniqueness of the concept.
• Composition: Balance, framing, and the overall arrangement of elements within the photograph.
• Emotional Impact: The ability to evoke feelings and convey a story.
• Adherence to Theme: Relevance to the category and subject matter.
• HF Values: Illustrates our values of ‘shared holiday experiences that inspire friendship, fun and an active enjoyment of the great outdoors’.
• Technical Skill: Focus, exposure, lighting.

• Photos selected as winners will be featured in future editions of the HF magazine and on the HF website together with the story behind the photo and photographer’s name (if desired)
• Winning photographers will be invited to give permission for the photos to be featured in other HF promotions.

• Entries that do not comply with the submission guidelines or eligibility criteria will be disqualified.
• Plagiarism or use of non-original content will result in immediate disqualification.
• Entries which have been manipulated or altered to misrepresent the scene or content will be disqualified.

• Winners will be notified via email and announced in the magazine following the competition. 

• Participants are expected to adhere to ethical photography practices and respect the subjects and environments they photograph.
• Photographs depicting any form of abuse, harm, or illegal activity will not be accepted.
• Participants should ensure the welfare of wildlife and not disturb natural habitats for the sake of a photograph.
